what is thrush And how does it develop?

This disease is a bacterial infection of the hooves, especially of the frog, which is accompanied by severe pain.  In the course of the disease, lameness also occurs. The infection breaks down the frog horn and can spread to the corium of the foot. The disease is characterised by a foul odour emanating from the hooves and a brownish mass in the frog furrows.

What needs to be done now and how can our hoof care help horses?

In case of infection, the veterinarian will remove the affected areas of the hoof to promote the growth of healthy horn. However, daily disinfection and meticulous cleaning of the hooves with a hoof care product for horses remains your responsibility, ensuring timely healing and preventing further bacterial growth. We recommend avoiding bedding materials that quickly become wet or are very fine and can get into wounds, as well as avoiding hard, pressure-causing pellets.
